Frank is a librarian with a deep romantic streak. Struck with love for a beautiful stranger named Miranda (Christina Ricci), he dares to voice his feelings and winds up in a whirlwind of intrigue. The elusive Miranda presents many faces - businesswoman, dancer, and dominatrix - and though Frank enjoys the chase, he questions if he can maintain his hold on such an enigmatic creature.
